About Linda Hartley |

Linda Hartley works as a therapist, trainer, and writer. She has developed an approach to personal growth and healing which engages body, mind, soul and spirit, using bodywork, movement, meditation and a range of therapeutic techniques to support the unfolding of process, and the cultivation of awareness, clarity and compassion. Linda originally trained and worked as a dancer and choreographer, and has worked since 1977 in the fields of dance and somatic movement therapy, bodywork and holistic body psychotherapy. She is a certified Practitioner and Teacher of Body-Mind Centering®, a UKCP Registered Transpersonal Psychotherapist, and a Senior Registered Dance Movement Therapist. She has an MA in Somatic Psychology, and has studied Authentic Movement with Janet Adler, and Process-oriented Psychology with Arnold Mindell and colleagues. Linda has taught for many organisations in the UK and abroad, including several Universities and Colleges in the UK and Europe; the School for Body-Mind Centering®, USA and Europe; the National Health Service, Social Services, and Adult Education Institutions in the UK. She has worked as a somatic and dance movement therapist with autistic children, children and adults with developmental learning difficulties, adults with Down’s Syndrome, the visually impaired, and adults and young people with mental health problems. Since 1990 Linda has run training programmes in Integrative Bodywork & Movement Therapy in England and Germany, and is the founding director of the Institute for Integrative Bodywork & Movement Therapy: www.ibmt.co.uk The training is accredited with the International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy Association (ISMETA): www.ismeta.org She currently works as a therapist and supervisor in private practice in Cambridge and Norwich, England, integrating Body-Mind Centering®, Authentic Movement, and Transpersonal Psychotherapy. Linda is also the author of three books: Wisdom of the Body Moving: an Introduction to Body-Mind Centering®; Servants of the Sacred Dream: Rebirthing the Deep Feminine - Psycho-spiritual Crisis and Healing; and Somatic Psychology: Body, Mind and Meaning. She loves gardening, walking by the sea, and is learning to play the cello. Many years of practice in T‘ai Chi Ch’uan and Buddhist meditation give support and inspiration to her work. |
